About The Artist
Diane Ubelhor-Wunderlich is a native Mid-Westerner, living in Newburgh, Indiana.
Always interested in art, she became focused on watercolors while attending the American Academy of Art in Chicago, Illinois under the instruction of Irving Shapiro. Most recently she has become interested in painting wildlife having taken a workshop with renowned wildlife artist, Robert Bateman. "Combining my love of art and my love of animals has made my work even more fulfilling. Whether in the field taking reference photos or in the studio painting, I'm truly enjoying what I do. If I can portray what I see and feel to the viewer then I feel I've been successful."
Although she prefers the immediacy, looseness and freshness of watercolor, she also enjoys using gouache, pastels, acrylics, and pen & ink.
Wunderlich has received many awards both nationally and locally. She has art in many galleries, homes and businesses and is a member of several art groups as well as a Board Member of the Brown County Art Guild in Nashville, Indiana. She's been featured on the front cover of "The Pointing Dog Journal" (July/Aug. 2001 issue) as well as included in their 10th Anniversary issue. She was most recently chosen as a finalist in "The Artist's Magazine" in the animal art division 2003.
She has also done commission work including portraitures, calendars, logos and billboards.
